During the discussion, they had the opportunity to directly ask questions and talk to numerous representatives of various organizational units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who, each in their work segment, answered the questions and commented on the proposal of the MOI's five-year development strategy.
Opening the presentation, Katarina Tomasevic, advisor and head of the Cabinet of the Interior Minister, said that the strategy is consistent with the continuity of reform activities throughout the country, with the aim of aligning with the standards of European countries.
"The basis of the strategy is the principles defined in the Law on Police adopted in 2016. The strategy presented today is the result of the work of the working group of the Ministry led by the Department for International Relations and European Affairs and Planning, and includes all relevant sectors in the Ministry of Interior and the support of the consultants engaged through the program "Support to development capacities of strategic management and European integration in the Ministry Interior of the Republic of Serbia "implemented by IMG implementation partner with the financial assistance of the Kingdom of Sweden. The development of the strategy was preceded by an analysis of the results of the implementation of the previous strategy, a comprehensive strategic analysis of the normative framework, the environment and the current situation, as well as assessing the needs of MUP and citizens in the following period" - said Katarina Tomasevic.
Ola Anderson, an adviser at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden, expressed his determination to provide continuous support to the reform process in the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia for which the Swedish Development Agency has donated over 23 million Euros since 2004 and stressed the satisfaction of the progress made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in improving and modernizing the process work.
The MOI development strategy defines the strategic areas of the Ministry in the following period, so the priorities and goals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are grouped within three strategic areas: security, development of institutional capacities and cooperation and citizen service.
After the adoption of this strategic document, the definition of the action plan is followed, followed by the realization and monitoring of the implementation of the five-year Strategy.
